Re: Cpqcissm: Event ID 9 error

Hi Phashant,

Its good to hear from you again. Pls see the following:

System Bios - updated to v2003.22.01
SA642 Bios - updated to v1.92
SA642 driver - updated to 5.48.0.32 (tried 5.49 but still the same)
SA642 slot - changed from 3 to 2 (1 is taken by the HP 64Bit U320 controller.
36.4GB U320 HDD - jumper checked : 0 & 1

The error only appears during bootup and not any other time.

Any ideas?

Jon

Re: Cpqcissm: Event ID 9 error

Hi Prashant,

The SA642 is connected to 2 units of 36GB U320 HDDs in RAID 1 (mirror).

Stripe size = 128KB.

Btw, i only found out that there is ADU in the SmartStart CD. Sorry, i didn't know that and must have downloaded an older version. Anyway, i ran that and it returns no problem found.

Re: Cpqcissm: Event ID 9 error

Hi Jagpal,

The only other card in the system is the Compaq wide ultra3 SCSI adapter in Slot 1 (it comes with the system). It is connected to the HP StorageWorks 40x6i Autoloader tape drive. I took out this card and just boot with the SmartArray 642 and still the same problem occurs.

Re: Cpqcissm: Event ID 9 error

Hi Jonathan,

I come across different option to check. I would say before try anything take backup first.

A)
Change the strip size

B)
Upgrade to Service Pack 6 or if this is not possible do the following workaround :
- Deactivate the Power Management Features in the F10 Setup
- Change the following registry key
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> WARNING <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Use Registry Editor at your own risk! Using the Registry Editor (Regedit) incorrectly can cause serious problems
that may require you to reinstall your operating system. There is no guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry
Editor can be solved.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
1. Open the Start Menu and select "Run..."
2. Type "Regedit" on the Open command line to open the Registry Editor.
3. Expand the key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE".
4. Select SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Disk from the key.
5. Add a new DWORD Value under the above key.
6. The DWORD Value should be "TimeOutValue".
7. The value for the "TimeOutValue" should be 1F in Hex or 31 in Decimal.

C)

The problem been corrected in an updated version of the Compaq StorageWorks 64-bit/66-MHz Dual Channel Wide Ultra3 SCSI Controller Driver ADPU160M.SYS, Version 6.1.520.202 for Windows 2000 and Version 6.40.520.202 for Windows NT 4.0, available in Compaq SmartStart for Servers Release 5.20 (or later). The drivers are also available for download at the following URLs:
