Create Logical drive on E2001 in ML350G5

Hi All,

I have just taken delivery of an ML350 G5.
There were 2 x 72 Gb SAS HDD pre-installed with Windows SBS 2003 R2 installed. These drives are mirrored.

I also received 2 x 250 Gb SATA HDD units and have installed them, but I am having a problem creating the logical drive.

When I enter the Controller ROM (F8) and select "Create Logical Drive", the two new drives are listed but I am unable to select either one. (The existing SAS logical drive is also listed with an "X" against it, but I am unable to move the "X" to either of the other drives). Pressing the space bar does nothing at all.

Am I missing something here?

Sorry everyone,

I re-read my previous post and realised it is a little misleading.

I can choose the drive I wish to create the logical drive in, but I cannot move the "X" from Raid 0 to Raid 0 and 1.

(I need mirroring on this 2nd sets of drives).

Any thoughts?

Re: Create Logical drive on E2001 in ML350G5

Hi All,

I have managed to locate and run the ACU. So far, so good.
I still have an issue though.

I have 2 x 72 Gb SAS drives and 2 x 250 Gb SATA drives physically installed into my server.

I have the two SATA drives in an array and mirrored.

The server came with one of the SAS drives configured as RAID 0.

How do I add the 2nd SAS drive to this array without losing the O/S already installed and running on the 1st drive?

hi

what you can you is migrate from RAID to RAID 1.

you insert the new CD
you open ACU you will see new HDD as unassigned
select logical drive and select EXPAND to add that new HDD after sometime since EXPAND takes some

EXTEND / MIGRATE option will show up so doing that migrate you RAID

see attached file
document is about expand / extend but instead of EXTEND you have to migrate
