Creating RAID 5 on ML110G2 (non hot plug)
server
product: HP ML110G2 P4-3.2G 512M 2X80G SATA NHP
product code: 470063-151
added memories:
product: CPQ 512MB PC3200 UNREG DDR SDRAM /ML110
product code: 354560-B21
and added two SATA hard drives (originally was 2, so now 2+2=4 drives)
product: HP 80GB 7.2KB NONHOTPLUG SATA
product code: 383410-B21
when starting the server for first time, and having HP CD inside, the program Insight Diagnostics finds the memories OK.
Problem is that it only finds 2 SATA hard drives. The 2 new ones are not shown. why? It should show 4 SATA drives.
with Ctrl+A when opening RAID tool, there are only options to create RAID 1 and RAID0.
We would like to create RAID 5, using 4 SATA disks. is it possible? how to do it?

Re: Creating RAID 5 on ML110G2 (non hot plug)
Is this the 6 port SATA raid controller you're using. The only SATA option for this server which supports raid 5 is this card.
The four port controller, which the non hotplug SATA model ships with, supports either raid 0 or raid 1.

The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..

Re: Creating RAID 5 on ML110G2 (non hot plug)
Thank you for reply. I have 4 port controller.
In this case I will create RAID1.
I have new question now. If I use ports 1 and 2 to implement RAID1.
How can I use ports 3 and 4? Can I attach SATA disks to them? For example as backup purpose. How to to that? what bios options and other settings are needed?
