I am installing Windows 2008 64 bit standard on a DL 320 G4 with an embedded SATA controller. The system was really slow after installation. When I enabled WRITE CACHE is was already much better. Still I see that the light on of the harddisk (next to network connectivity) is on all the time. It looks like the disks are heavy loaded constanty.
When I checked the driver in Windows, I noticed that it is using the Adaptec driver from Microsoft.
Where can I find the HP driver for this embedded SATA controller? I think that this would give me better performance.
The latest fixed (PSP, Firmware, ...) are all deployed.
All storage controller drivers on the HP website for this server respond with "Driver not applicable for this system".
Thank for helping me out.

Does not list DL320 G4 as a supported server for Windows 2008. However HP does have drivers for it..
Win2k3 64x have embedded SATA drivers available for download for the DL320 G4. Maybe they will work?

Re: DL 320 G4 Embedded SATA controller driver for Windows 2008 SP 2.
Is it sad that they don't support Windows 2008 on this servers. One of the servers in only 15 months old. A bit strange.
Thanks

How slow is it actually? SATA/embedded controller have its limitations.

Re: DL 320 G4 Embedded SATA controller driver for Windows 2008 SP 2.
My only question is that if it is not supported by HP, that it is then a good idea to run it in a production environment.
