DL 380 G3 DVD Drive not Recognzied

I have a G3 DL380 that came with a CD drive. I need to install the OS off a DVD. I bought a DVD drive of the correct model to match the machine. Pulled the CD drive out and plugged in the new DVD drive. The BIOs/ROM doesnt see it. I therefore cant install an OS off DVD. The ROM is the latest. There is no setting on the drive for master slave that I can see. Please assist.

On the Backplane there is 2 DVD cables, one from the Systemboard to the backplane and one from the back plane to the drive. Maybe one of these 2 is disconnected ?

If I plug in the CD it works fine.
So I would presume that means the cables are fine.

Some servers need firmware upgrade to support DVD.

I updated to the newest ROM flash sp28809.exe. Is that what you mean?
