Hello,
our fileserver is a DL 380 G3 (2 x 2,8 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, MSL 6030 TapeLib, 2 x Discarray 4414, SmartArray 6400, Smart Array 5i) with Win 2000 Server, Veritas 9.1 and McAfee 7 installed. The server ran very well about 18 Months. In this time the server chrashed 2-3 times with 0x0000007f (0x00000008, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) -> also known as Double_fault_error.
The only thing that has been changed is that i installed the new proliant support pack because of the smartarray controller reported a battery failure. Since i installed it the Double_fault_error crashed my server 2 times a day.
I thougt it could be a problem of veritas 9.1 because of the server always crahes when veritas is running. McAfee is stopped before each backup.
No hints in the event log except of the double_fault_error.
Can anybody help me??
Thanks for any tip.
Dirk

Solution
Hello Franke,
This issue usully happens when you have a srv.sys file that is not working properly in the syste. This could be because when you apply the new support pack there might have been some component that is installed and/or updated system component because of the support pack that might require an updated version of srv.sys
I here with attache a link from microsoft that might help to resolve this particular issue
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;839540
Let me know if it helps or not so otherwise we can try to seek another way arround
I hope this will help
Regards
Amha Kassa

Re: DL 380 G3 Win 2000 Server reboots 2 times a day - EXCEPTION_DOUBLE_FAULT
Hello Amha,
thanks for your reply.
At the moment it seems that the hotfix was the solution for my problem. I installed it yesterday and till now the server worked properly without rebooting :-). I hope it was the solution.
Thanks a lot
