DL 380 G5 Memory conundrum

Hi

I have 2 DL 380 G5 Machines I wish to upgrade them to 32Gb am i right in thinking that i can add 4 8Gb sticks to the system.

What type of memory do I need and is this going to work as I have seen some specs on the HP site saying they can go to 64GB and some saying it only takes 32Gb.

Look into QiuckSpecs

You can add 8 Gb sticks and you can reach 64 GB memory

That would mean that you will throw out the currently installed memory? You should try and find the number of occupied and free slots on the server right now and figure out what you can add.

Keep in mind that memory is added in pairs of DIMMs. Also the reason you see 32MB vs 64MB is because the DL380 can do memory mirroring for redundancy. In that configuration the 64GB maximum becomes 32GB efective usable memory. The OS does not see this it is done at the bios level.
