DL 380 G5 Processors Fit DL 585 G2?

I have 2 DL 380 G5 servers fitted with the AMD Opteron Processors - X5355 - which are quad core.  I'm wondering if these processors will fit and run in the DL 385 G2 4 processor servers?

are you sure that you DL380 G5 is configured with AMD Processor?

this is the quickspec of that server it's not supported by AMD Processor :

You are right. They are fitted with the Xeon X5355 processor which is Intel. Not sure where I got the idea they were Opteron processors from? Anyway will the Xeon X5355 processor (quad core) processors fit the DL 385 G2?

Think I have got confused along the way somewhere. The DL 585 G2 uses AMD Opteron processors by the looks of it so there is no way it will accept the Xeon X5355 processor. Oh well.

Proliant DL/ML/SL xx0 servers are Intel, and DL/ML/SL xx5 servers are AMD. In other words, that last digit either 0 or 5 is what tells you it's Intel or AMD.

AMD and Intel processors are NOT interchangeable... different sockets, different chipsets... just different altogether.
