DL 380 G5 hot plug connections

Hi!

I have question about DL 380 G5 server. Is it possible to insert PCI-express modules (e.g. ethernet card) without turn off server, i.e. hot plug connection?

Thank you for your replies!

Re: DL 380 G5 hot plug connections

Hot-plug PCI slots requires having separate PCI power control to turn off and on the power is a specific slot. The OS would have to support this as well. Not something you would expect in a low end server. Even the high end DL785 G5 and G6 do not have this feature. The DL785 actually mentions the PCIe slots are non-hot-plug. http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13432_na/13432_na.html
