DL 380 G6 Dual Channel Ultra320 SCSI Controller
I need help locating the part number for a Dual Channel Ultra320 SCSI Controller that is compatible with a DL 380 G6.
I came accross this one but the DL380 G6 is not listed as compatible.

Thanks
Mark

Re: DL 380 G6 Dual Channel Ultra320 SCSI Controller
Officially only the SC11Xe is supported on the DL380 G6. It is a single channel SCSI not dual.

(look under "Additional Options", "Storage Controllers")
Do you need a dual channel? If so for what purpose?

I need 2, we run one channel to the robot, and then split 2 drives on the other channel.

Re: DL 380 G6 Dual Channel Ultra320 SCSI Controller
One option is to use the original U320 that you found. Most likely it will work on the G6.
Another option is to buy two SC11Xe. The list price is $209. You will get much better i/o. I don't know if you have available i/o slots but the G6 has 3 PCI slots and can have 3 more with the extra PCI cage.

You would get much better performance if you connected one channel to one drive and one channel to the robotics/2nd drive.
The i/o to the robotic device is almost zero. Occasionally the software will send a SCSI command to the robotic device to take some action. These commands are short probably in the hundreds of bytes only. This way you have the whole scsi channel dedicated to each drive.
