DL-380 WILL NOT INSTALL WIN XP PRO NEED HELP

hi,we have a new dl-380 that is not going to be put into service for a month or so,in the meantime i wish to install win xp pro to have a look and get familiiar with befor the roll out.trouble is whenever itry and run setup from the win xp cd it says there are no harddrives detected.we are not running the built in smart array controller but a smart array 5300.does the 5300 have to be removed and then xp loaded,and then reinstall the 5300 with drivers??? any help would be greatly appreciated

no...i can give you the procedures for win2k and nt which are the same and SHOULD work with xp..
what you need to do is hit F6 during the startup install...then dont let it detect mass storage devices..instead choose specify..then other..it will prompt you for a manufacturuers diskette..you create this diskette from sp14437.exe off of our site....its diskette two from the series that it creates that you need
