DL Servers - Connecting SAS Disk to motherboard

Hi,

I want to add one 600GB SAS disk to my DL360 Gen 10 server.

I don't want to set up a RAID array.

My question is why do I need a RAID controller? Is it possible to connect my disk to the motherboard?

Thanks

Re: DL Servers - Connecting SAS Disk to motherboard

Greetings!

Drives can be connected to integrated onboard controller (s100i) and then set the controller in non RAID mode (SATA AHCI) from BIOS.

Please note this controller will support only SATA drives.

Re: DL Servers - Connecting SAS Disk to motherboard

The only board disk controller only support SATA, even is use SFF-8087 interface.

You must have a HBA card or Raid card to use SAS disk
