DL120 Harddisks

Can I use generic 1.5 TB sata harddisks in a DL120. HP only sells 750 GB disks and I want more space.

Well it's not supported. So if you get any problems with it you're not covered by warranty anymore. The HP drives usually have special firmware.

and

Might help you on your hunt. Unless someone here can answer if they have tried it and got it working :)

Re: DL120 Harddisks

I know it's not officially supported. I would buy those expensive HP disks if they were available but hey are not.
Anyway I ordered a dl120 and some harddisks. We'll see, if it doesn't work I might check out them Dell server.

Re: DL120 Harddisks

Well, it works just fine. Altough the raid bios report only 1TB of space when you setup the raid 1. But when the raid config is finished it used all available disk space. A small bug i guess that could perhaps be fixed with a bios update.
I just installed centos 5.3 and that also seems to be running just fine.
Anybody know if you can install wbem and all the hp trimmings from the smartstart cdrom on the DL120G5?
