DL120 PCI-x riser card problem (power not getting passed through perhaps?)

Hi,

We have a DL120G5 with the PCI-X riser card, trying to use an Orban 1100 audio card.

The card functions perfectly well in every way, except that analogue audio does not come in or out of the card (digital audio does though).

My thought is that the riser card, which seems to convert PCIexpress to PCI-x in some kind of "active" way, perhaps does not fully pass through the different power pins to the PCI-x slot, and that the card takes the power for the D-A convertors seperately (to make the audio cleaner perhaps).

Does anyone know if these riser cards have any limitations and/or had similar problems?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Hi Chris, did you ever resolve this situation? We have the same problem with a DL120 G6 with PCI-X Riser and Audio Science ASI5111 card which has no analogue audio output

Re: DL120 PCI-x riser card problem (power not getting passed through perhaps?)

Not good news I'm afraid. There is no proper solution. It was a while ago now but the PCI-X standard doesn't support one of the voltages (5v?) that PCI does, so there is simply no way of getting the riser card to pass through that voltage. We spent a long time talking to HP and eventually someone acknowledged the issue (but couldn't give a solution).

We ended up modifying the actual audio card and bodging a wire onto the loom that feeds the motherboard.

Sorry.
