DL140 G1 Windows Server 2003 install problem
Hello,
We have 6 HP DL140 (G1's) and are simply trying to install Windows 2003 standard onto these machines. A problem occurs during the setup at the point of when the install starts to copy files from the CD to the HDD. It takes 2-3 hours to copy the files, with basically the CD drive being read alot, but with no HDD action.
Everything upto that point including formatting and reading the CD all works as expected, and have tried different CD\HDDs drives to no avail. Equally we tried an XP install and this copies the files across with no problem at all.
Have tried looking for a ATA100 driver to specify at the beginning of the install, as i suspect this could be a DMA issue. However on the web\forums no one else seems to have this issue.
Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers
Andy

Re: DL140 G1 Windows Server 2003 install problem
I was experiencing the same problem and I found the solution. Update your BIOS to the latest version (05506T03). In the new BIOS, enable 32 Bit access for all of your hard drives and cdroms in the IDE setup. Installation of Windows Server 2003 goes much quicker.
