Re: DL140 G3 Embedded SATA RAID Software
I'm having the same issue on an ML 110 G3 running 32-bit Windows 2008 Server.
Windows 2008 detected the embedded HostRAID and installed the Adaptec Serial ATA HostRAID driver v.1.6.6.2 (4/27/2007).
I installed the version of HP Storage Manager for the ML110 G5. It detects the controller but reports "commands are not responding."
I've tried several versions of Adaptec Storage Manager from their site going back to v 5.0.00 but they all report the same error.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Re: DL140 G3 Embedded SATA RAID Software
i still haven't solved this one but when i next get a chance i plan to upgrade the BIOS and storage controller firmware. I've tried so many different versions of the RAID manager with the same error that i'm getting the feeling it could be the raid controller firmware or BIOS.

Re: DL140 G3 Embedded SATA RAID Software
I successfully upgraded the driver on the live server to the one mentioned by Slava above
http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/speed/raid/aar/windows/aar81xx_win2k8_x64_b11989_cert_exe.htm
If you just do the normal driver upgrade it tells you that you already have the best driver, so you have to go via the "have disk" route and then select 1420SA as the driver when you get the choice. THis installs a driver called aar81xx.sys v1.5.11989 rather than the adpahci.sys.
Rebooted without problems after install.
The Adaptec Storage Manager can successfully find the adapter and report on the status etc.
In Device manager, the storage controller is reported as "Adaptec AAR-1420SA Serial ATA HostRAID Controller"
Also after the reboot, the server says it has found new hardware "Serial ATA HostRAID". Ignore this and tell it not to ask you again.
I didn't need to upgrade the Firmware which is still reported at boot time as
"HP Embedded SATA Controller BIOS V4.8-7 B2067"
