DL140 G3: how to force SATA-2 speed for the SAS1068 controller ports?

I've just rebuilt a DL140 G3 with better, newer hardware and found the lsiutil utility for accessing/managing the SAS1068 controller in the attached RAID card. It shows that NCQ is off and link speed is only 1.5 (=SATA-1). I don't see a way to enable NCQ and upping the min rate of the links from 1.5 to 3.0 didn't make a difference (it shows in the port settings, but the read-out of the links still shows 1.5 speed for the active links). The disks definitely do support SATA-2 and I had checked earlier with the Samsung ES-Tool that they are indeed set to SATA-300.
Is this by chance also a matter of the driver used in the OS? I'm using CentOS 5.5 with the built-in MPT-Fusion driver which is version 3.something.
Thanks!

Ok, I've found how to enable NCQ. I didn't dare to enable the "expert mode". I did for a test and then got the additional option to change it. Still no way to force the link speed.
