DL140 G3 + racing fans

Hi,

I'm onsite somewhere today and there are three DL140 G3's in a rack.

One of them is constantly racing its fans.

It's working OK and has Windows 2000 installed.

The others both have Windows 2003.

But every 60 seconds or so it races its fans for a few seconds, like it does at startup.

It's starting to drive me nuts....

There doesn't appear to be a SmartStart CD available for this model from what I can see and the software CD doesn't appear to contain anything applicable.

Any ideas anyone ?

Or have we got a faulty fan/sensor ?

Customer says it's been doing it for ages now.

Servers aren't overheating, plus room has aircon.

Jim.

Hi,

No it isn;t all three..

Two of them are fine..it's only one of them.

I'll check out the firmware versions.

Re: DL140 G3 + racing fans

Hi Jim,

I have come across with the similar problem in past and going by the experience i think updating the firmware should fix the issue.
