DL140 Gigabit NICs

Any known issues with these? We're installing netware 6.5 and cannot get the NICs to see the network. Tried two new DL140s so far with identical results. No ping, nothing.
Caveat: our Gigabit switches have yet to arrive so the boxes are connected to an unmanaged 100mb switch, but it's 4pair cat5.....

Re: DL140 Gigabit NICs

Checking the support & drivers section, there is no driver support for the DL140 under NetWare.

Re: DL140 Gigabit NICs

But Broadcom publish a driver for the B57xx and it's included on the netware 6.5 cd......

These are nice powerful little boxes, I don't want to waste them on windows and I'm not ready to shift to SUSE....

Any workarounds?

Re: DL140 Gigabit NICs

hi,
this server also have Hp Proliant NC gigabit NIC, for which you might not have the driver.

Re: DL140 Gigabit NICs

re this server also have NC gigabit nic...

the two nics I am aware of are the two B57 broadcom lan-on-boards. There's an empty pcix slot - are you referring to that?

Re: DL140 Gigabit NICs

Dave,

Has any progress been made on this issue? I have a DL140 which I am trying to setup Netware 6 on. I have tried it with the B57 drivers that ship with Netware and the latest ones downloaded from Broadcom with no success. I can't ping or contact the network at all. I am due to set this machine up live next week and so I'm desperate for a solution. Irrelevant of any statements about not supporting Netware on this platform it's surely not acceptible to simply adandon those users. Let me know if you have had any news/developments.

thanks

Re: DL140 Gigabit NICs

James,
I never resolved it. I reclassified the DL140s as metaframe boxes and spent another 6K buying 3 DL360s instead. Not that I'm happy about it, but the DL360s are a bit more server-like.
If you google for DL140 and Netware you'll find a (swedish?) site and a NewJersey site that claimed to have done it. The swedes hadn't, it was a typo in their site. The yanks never replied.
