DL140 Unresponsive

My file server is a Proliant DL140 G2 with an MSA20 external array attached to it. Occasionally it becomes unresponsive to all users, usually coinciding with some activity from an admin such as deleting large folders or simply right clicking a folder to look at the size on disk. I have upgraded all the drivers and firmware associated with the array, but the problem persists.

I found an update that seems to address the issue on the hp site: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=455149&swItem=MTX-UNITY-I24822&mode=5

This is a storage controller update for the HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller Driver for Windows 2000/Windows Server 2003, which is my "C" drive where my OS resides. I think installing this may solve my problem, but I'm a little scared to do it. Can this controller be updated on the operating system drive without reinstalling the OS? If so, how?

Thanks!
