DL140 Windows 2000 install problem with SCSI driver
Any ideas? I am struggling to figure out how a server which does not come with a floppy drive as standard needs a floppy drive to get it running, and then the floppy isn't recognised to install

Re: DL140 Windows 2000 install problem with SCSI driver
You need to install the SCSI driver before upgrading the operating system.

Re: DL140 Windows 2000 install problem with SCSI driver
IMP
The floppy drive used by you is usb 1 or 2 can you confirm that.
This is only the issu with the usb drive.
Where as for solution i can suggest you to use the USB 1.44-MB External Diskette Drive (Carbonite) - PN DC141B

Re: DL140 Windows 2000 install problem with SCSI driver
I'm not sure there is an issue with either usb 1.1 or 2 drives, but there may be with different manufacturers usb floppy drives.
I would agree with Prashant on the optional floppy for the server working.

Re: DL140 Windows 2000 install problem with SCSI driver
You can try to include the scsi controllers drivers into your windows 2000 install CD (unattend.txt + drivers + $OEM$ folder), that way you dont have to worry about getting the drivers installed from floppy or USB Key. Cheers.

Re: DL140 Windows 2000 install problem with SCSI driver
1. This is a new install, not an upgrade
2. I am using a Dell USB floppy, as it is the only one I have. I won't be able to get an HP one.
3. I will see if I can build the CD and try that. I will let you know how I go.
In the meantime, if there is any other tricks or suggestions, I would be happy to hear it.
Michael.

Re: DL140 Windows 2000 install problem with SCSI driver
Here's what to try:
1. Connect USB Floppy
2. BIOS setup
3. Advanced
4. USB Configuration
5. USB Mass Storage Device Configuration (this option does not exist until you connect floppy)
6. Set Emulation type to ├в floppy├в
Also, I had to completely disable onboard floppy to make O/S recognize USB floppy as floppy A
1. BIOS Setup
2. Advanced
3. Floppy Configuration
4. Floppy A ├в Disabled
5. Onboard Floppy Controller ├в Disabled
