Re: DL140 (unintentional) re-booting

Hi!

I have the exact same problem.
My DL140 starts itself automatically every midnight. Only a keyboard and mouse is connected, no LAN, no monitor.

Also, it once did shut down by itself, but I do not remember if this happened at midnight or not. It was a "nice" shutdown, e.g. "Windows is shutting down...", just like if the power button had been pressed.

Weird !? Is this a WOL bug or what?

Re: DL140 (unintentional) re-booting

...it is a BOIS bug that is still in beta, that HP is working on.

(You will likely not be able to move your machine into production until the BIOS patch goes "production".)

Paul:

Did you get an ETA for the bios from HP?
Enjoy!

Re: DL140 (unintentional) re-booting

...no and it's incredibly frustrating. At our shop we've been unable to go into production for more than 8 weeks now!

I think we were one of the first to stumble on to this problem. HP has been very quiet as to why this is occurring even after we've spent considerable time helping them address and troubleshoot the issue. Phooey.

OK, that's bad! Does it help to downgrade to any previous bios version?

Thanks,

We've tried a few different BIOS versions. I wouldn't waste my time. HP claims to have a production BIOS patch ready shortly.

Re: DL140 (unintentional) re-booting

We are running our system at a seismic collection station. It is in a climate controlled concrete hut. When we had nearby lightning strikes, it was rebooting. It is behind a UPS. It continues to reboot without explanation. A sun netra powered by 48v battery has no apparent problems (nor does another compaq in the same rack).

I am not running SMS, the system load is, I think, reasonable.

Is there something I can look at which would indicate why the reboot?

Thanks,
Hank
