DL140G3 network controller driver

We just bought a DL140G3 server with broadcom ethernet controller in it. Try ALL Window 2000 network driver from the HP website and none of them work, saying hardware do not exist or the software/firmware is not compatible. HP support told us all driver are on their website. So we we stuck with this server.

Anybody know if there is a working Window 2000 network driver available for this server model ??

Re: DL140G3 network controller driver

hi KL Wong

does the server has this card?
NC320i PCIe Gigabit Server Adapter?

if so

you already try these drivers?
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/support/files/networking/us/download/27417.html
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/support/files/networking/us/download/25511.html

and this firmware
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/support/files/networking/us/download/23477.html

apply first firmware and after that drivers.

if you're getting messages like HW not found
it can be a HW issue I mean bad nic card.
also check device manager NICs shows up?

Re: DL140G3 network controller driver

Hello KL Wong,

Yes, this has been seen in many occasions; specially in 100 series servers.

http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF06a/15351-15351-3328412-241644-3328421-1842838.html
says the Server has Two integrated Broadcom 10/100/1000 5721 NICs (Wake on LAN and PXE capable)

However, http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12509_div/12509_div.html
Says the server has
Two embedded NC320i PCIe Gigabit Server Adapters.

and, Software & Drivers webpage for these servers will NOT provide drivers for BROADCOM.

I have personally emailed the Server team / Driver support team more than 4-5 times that MOST servers goes with the BROADCOM drivers, & not the GENERIC NC320i.

However, They wont Change it, as The QUICKSPECS refers to "NC320i" NIC & NOT the broadcom.

This confusion leaves us with ONLY one option, that is to download the drivers from BROADCOM's link :
http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/netxtreme_server.php

Interestingly, HP provides this Driver, but only for windows 2003 x64 bit ONLY
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locoscat/1111_58.html
&
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/23575.html
says this is for DL140 G3, but again only for win2k3 x64.

I hope they are reading this, & include this in the pages for other OS versions too.

Regards,
James.

Re: DL140G3 network controller driver

Thank you very much - having spent 2 hours downloading and redownloading every driver on the HP UK web site your lead to the BCom web site cured the problem in 2 minutes flat. Why don't HP ever listen? we get inundated with would you like to take this survey or that questionaire but it would all appear to be a bit of a waste of time..
