DL145 G2 Newbie Install

Forgive my ignorance, but I can't work out how to get the drives visible to the BIOS to install the OS. The RAID utility detects both SATA drives when the machine boots, but then the BIOS screen shows no drives present, thus nothing to install the OS onto. The packaged instuction sheet deals only with physical setup, nothing on the bios side.

Many thanks for any pointers.

Hi Mark

Since drives are connected through RAID controller, they will not be seen in BIOS setup. You may proceed with system setup with the help of CDs ( e.g. smartstart) provided with server.

You cannot use a smart start on the 100 series. Which controller are you using? On a raid controller you need to set up the logical drive using the ROM based set of the controller. Then boot off the OS CD, depending on the controller you may need to press F6 to specify the controller driver and the setup should go through.
ThereтАЩs your problem!!! This thing is set to EVIL!

Re: DL145 G2 Newbie Install

Thanks for the replies, HP confirmed that it doesn't do RAID despite claiming so at time of purchase, so sending it back to swap for a DL360.

Make sure its not the DL360 G4 SATA model....it does not support RAID

Yep, thanks. SCSI model is the choice.
