DL145 with attached USB hard drive won't boot

I have a 1Tb data drive attached to a DL145G1 - when the system reboots it detects the USB device attached and then stalls indefinitely. Removing the device, rebooting then reattaching works fine. Is there a fix for this?

What OS is it? Where does it stall? Any error messages?

Windows2003 but it stalls in the BIOS boot, detects memory, disks, then USB devices, finds USB01 then hangs. Doesn't complete the BIOS boot, doesn't get near the OS....in the BIOS, USB legacy support is disabled but it makes no difference if it is enabled, it still hangs the BIOS.

Check the boot order in the RBSU (F9 during POST). Make sure USB is after C: .

Have done all that, order is CD, HD, then nothing......switching off the USB disk and cold booting allows it to continue
