I have a 1U Proliant server (model in subject) with two hot-plug 3.5" SATA disks in RAID-1 on a 2-disk backplane using the factory Smart Array P410 RAID controller. I would like to add two more hot-plug disks for a second RAID-1 pair but I need, at very least, to replace the backplane with a 4-drive model first.
1. Is the HP 4 Hard Drive Hot Plug Backplane G6 Kit (512181-B21) suitable?
2. Is the backplane the only modification required?
3. Is the RAID controller able to run the 2 additional disks or are there likely to be licensing issues restricting me to 2 disks?
Many thanks in advance,
Mark

Re: DL160 G6 (490454-421) 2-4 disk backplane
Being that the drives are of dissimilar size, I would expect to create two RAID-1 volumes that are independent of one another rather than one RAID-10 volume. Is this the correct approach?
Regards,
Mark
