Ive got an DL160 G6 with one XEON E5520 installed and 6 GB RAM.
Id like to upgrade it to a 2 processor machine.
The HP Sparepart for another E5520 Processor 490459-B21 ist listed at about 500,- EURO at resellers.
The same processor E5520 alone is available for about 300,- EURO.
Is one Heatsink worth the 200 bucks, or is there any alternative?
(It not all about he money, more about the best solution for the problem)
Best regards

Solution
Hi Michael your
supported options are listed here
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13247_na/13247_na.html
now get your server prod number feks 123456-b21
put it here
http://partsurfer.hp.com/search.aspx
and you may well see all the components individually..
and get their part number to purchase them as individual components
or you can select passive or active cooling for the E5520
http://www.aavidthermalloy.com/products/microp/intel09/intel_processor09.shtml
or use you own passive cooling
and mount it with parts from any pc shop
monitor the temp for stability til you are satisfied
This is how we thank in the forum

Re: DL160 G6 Processor Upgrade / 2nd XEON E5520
Thank you very much,
it helped me out!
Ordered the heatsink seperately from hp.
The XEON comes from a reseller.
Best Solution for money AND performance...
