How can I connect the P212 Array Controller to 4 SATA HDD's installed in the non-hot Plug bays?
Is there any Cable Kit because the SATA Cable in the Server is to short to connect? Or do I have to buy a Backplane?
Thanks in advance for any help,
Tom

Re: DL160 G6 with SmartArray P212?
(Can't find a decent picture of the controller anywhere)
If so, you probably need something like the '4Lane, SAS/SATA Cable Assembly'
Part no. 457892-001 ?

SolutionSee page 54 of the service guide.
http://www.dectrader.com/docs/set1/c01728029.pdf
It looks like there is a backplane for non-hot plug models as well. It is not clearly mentioned this is for non-hot plug systems so verify it by opening the server and checking it out. There is a power connector and four data connectors. So the cable you need must have four separate data connectors on the disk end.
On the P212 end, you need a x4 connector.

Did you buy the P212 with the server as an option or bought/had the P212 yourself? The P212 is officially supported with the DL160 G6 so if you ordered it from HP it should have come with the correct cables. If you are adding the P212 on your own you need to find the cable with the right length and right connectors.
The cable mentioned above appears to be the right one assuming you have the four SATA connectors for the disks. Vrify that it will be long enough it looks like it is about 1.5 feet long (~35cm) (The URL below is for the illustration only, I am not suggesting that you buy from them, I don't know who they are, I just found the image on google)

Re: DL160 G6 with SmartArray P212?
@Trygve Henriksen: So far I can see the P212/ZM has a wide connector.
@TTr: I've read the pages in the service guide which show the backplane module f├Г┬╝r non-hot Plug Model. But this seems to be no solution for me, because in every case I need the right cable. I bought the P212 myself with no cables. I also talked to an HP Employee via chat with no satisfying solution for me.
I tried to use a HP Cable (487736-001) but this also was too short. I need the "right one" to directly connect my P212 to the 4 sata HDD's. It must be round about 50-60cm, 35cm will be too short. In the quickspecs (http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13247_div/13247_div.html) of DL160 G6 i found a note about to use a HP NHP Internal Mini SAS/SATA 4 port cable kit (P/N 487734-B21) in connection with smart array.
I'am now really confused about which cable seems to be the right one?
Bye,
Tom

Verify the connectors again, I think the 457892-001 does not have the right connectors on the disk side (it has the wide connector, data+power, to connect directly to a disk module not a backplane)

Re: DL160 G6 with SmartArray P212?
thanks for your proposals to solve my cable problem. I decided to buy a non HP 1m cable with MiniSAS to 4 SATA connectors, because the HP hotline staff couldn't help me.
Unfortunately it seems that HP doesn't have a cable to connect a raid controller directly to 4 sata drives in the DL160 G6 in the right length.
Thanks for your help. I will answer about my experience with the cable.
