DL180 G5 No Network adapter found

Hi,

I've just installed Windows 2008 Server x64 on a DL180 G5. Problem is: the NIC is not shown at all.

I also installed the PSP 8.30 x64 for it aswell. No NIC detected before or after reboot (it found the ILO!!)

2 days I've been battling this monster now..
Also downloaded all the different NIC drivers from HP for 2008 x64, but none of them will install as there is no compatible HW detected.

Reset BIOS settings to "default" to see if that helped, no go there either.

There was ESX 3.5 installed on it earlier, and the NIC worked fine then. So I know it should be functioning!

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi,
it looks like you are missing driver for this model.
Here are drivers for DL180 G5 and
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Server 2008 x64

Unless it is some special configuration, I think DL180 G5 has not ilo by default ( same for all 100s proliant server series ).
Please look at above drivers and install them once Windows is installed, and hopefully it will work.

Re: DL180 G5 No Network adapter found

Sorry it seems I was mis-informed and it is in fact a DL320 G5p I have been dealing with. Never the less, the drivers for the DL320 are still not working.

Think I need to alert HP of HW error on this one...

Re: DL180 G5 No Network adapter found

If you don't see anything in the OS - Do you see the MAC-address for the NIC in BIOS?

Do you have light on the NIC? Does the switch see the NIC?

What is network card in server ? Please open server? As Johan suggested can you see MAC of NIC in BIOS ?

Re: DL180 G5 No Network adapter found

Thats exactly it, there is no MAC on it in BIOS, and no light in either port (integrated card) when connected to switch.

It's like it just died.

Re: DL180 G5 No Network adapter found

I suppose you preparing server to install, and deploy, can you set all to defaults in BIOS.
I think path is "advanced options, reset to default "'---I am not sure 100 % about path, please find in BIOS and try to reset all to default values.

Re: DL180 G5 No Network adapter found

Sorry, should have said so from the beginning that I tried that as one of the first things.

I think I will call HP for a warranty swap on this.

Re: DL180 G5 No Network adapter found

It does seem like that yes :/

If it is the on board NIC then not so much to do I guess.

And btw, if you want to give points to the answers please do =)

Re: DL180 G5 No Network adapter found

hmm are nics seen and enabled ,

if so are they seen in dev manger

in not seen in dev manager , or dont even display question marks they are dead

new sys board

if seen in bios but not in os disable tefer 2 driver in hidden devices in devmanager and disable symantec backend , or msoft front if you have it installed
