DL180 G6 with 6Gbps SATA drives
Does anyone know of a HP array controller that supports 6Gbps SATA drives? I can't seem to find any and there are none listed in the quick sepcs for the DL180 G6. I have 6Gbps SATA drives operating at 3Gbps because of the controller and want to replace the controller.

Re: DL180 G6 with 6Gbps SATA drives
Hi,
As far as I know, only Gen8 and above generation servers support "6Gb/s SATA".

Re: DL180 G6 with 6Gbps SATA drives
Dang that sucks. I guess I could always try another raid card in the HP server...

Re: DL180 G6 with 6Gbps SATA drives
Hello jdixon,
Unfortunately, the HP RAID Controllers that are available for the HP ProLiant DL180 Gen6 server support the 6Gb/s SATAтАЩs. I recommend looking at the HP ProLiant DL180 Gen9 Server, which has the RAID controllers that support the 6Gb/s SATA drives.
I would love to connect you with an HP Server Specialist for more information on configuration and availability. Let me know if that is a direction you would like to go in

LOL I'm sure HP would recommend me buying a Gen9 server. Seems silly they can't make G6+ servers support 6Gbps SATA

Re: DL180 G6 with 6Gbps SATA drives
Hello Jdixon,
The only other options I can recommend is contacting HP Total Care at 1-800-334-5144 24hrs a day 7days a week to see if there is a work around for your HP ProLiant DL180 Gen6 server. The other option is connecting you to an HP Server Expert.

Re: DL180 G6 with 6Gbps SATA drives
Why do the QuickSpecs for the DL180 G6 state that it'll handle 6Gb/s drives on a P212 or P410 controllers, then?

Am I missing something here?
As long as the controller and drives themselves can support 6Gb/s you should be good to go, surely?
