DL180 Gen9, P440 controller upgrade

Hi everyone!

I need to upgrade the actual controller of my server (DL180 Gen9 with a 8 LFF drive cage) from a H240 to a P440 FIO controller, but the mini-SAS cable conection is different. On the H240 were 2 ports mini-SAS, but on the P440 were only 1 port that is bigger than the mini-SAS.

I've done some research and I found that there is a Cable KIT for my server (P/N 725577-B21) that is compatible with my server and the P440 controller, but I don't actually know if this cable kit is enough to replace the actual mini-SAS cable to the controller.

Does anyone know if this cable kit (P/N 725577-B21) is what I need to finally put On-line the P440 controller?

Thanks for your help :D (...and sorry for the bad english)

'FIO" stands for Factory Installed Option and is only available on config to order systems.

To upgrade your systems you need the follwoing

HP Smart Array P440/2GB FBWC 12Gb 1-port Int SAS Controller 820834-B21
NOTE: Includes the HPE Smart Storage Battery.

HP DL180 Gen9 8LFF Smart Array Cable Kit 725577-B21

Re: DL180 Gen9, P440 controller upgrade

I've already bought a P440/4GB controller (P/N 726823-001). If I understand what you said, I just need the "HP DL180 Gen9 8LFF Smart Array Cable Kit 725577-B21", right?

Thanks!

Yes, you just need the cable.  Did the controller you order come with the battery?  If not you need to get this

HP 96W Smart Storage Battery with 145mm Cable for DL/ML/SL Servers 727258-B21
NOTE: This option is mandatorily required with HPE Smart Array controllers. One server can accommodate only 1 Smart Storage Battery that would suffice the requirement of all HPE Smart Array controllers.
