Please check the disk backplane firmware.
See my added notes above.

Re: DL180 hpacucli shows all drives in one slot
Hi,
We have seen similar issue with the DL180 G6 and the issue was with the Controller Firmware. Please share the below information :
1. Server Model and OS installed
2. Controller Model and Firmware Version
3. Type of HDDs installed (Model Number or Spare Part Number)
Note : HP recommends to have a valid backup on the server.

Re: DL180 hpacucli shows all drives in one slot
Thank you.
We do have backups but we want to avoid the down time at least during office hours.
We leave this machine as is for the moment and will move the vm's in that host at the weekend.
So we can update firmware and rebuild arrays as needed without pressure.
Best regards Holger

Re: DL180 hpacucli shows all drives in one slot
Hello Holger,
Sure, please schedule a downtime and upgrade the firmware on the server.
The firmware update requires the server reboot.
Note : Please update the Firmware step by step. if the server is running at older version.
You can skip 2 version and then go for 3rd version. Please check the Revision History for older version firmware.
Any further questions on this issue?
Regards,
