DL180G: BSOD on Windows 2003 x64 Installation

Hi,

I'm trying to install two brand new HP DL180 G5.
Here is the configuration (same for both machines)
* CPU E5405 x 2 (8 cores)
* RAM 6 Go (2 x 1 + 2 x 2)
* HD 2 x 250 SATA (RAID 1) + 6 x 500 SATA (RAID 0+1)
* E200/128 controller
* ILO 100c
* Redundant power

I'm trying to install Windows Server 2003 R2 x64
When the installer try to start, I get a BSOD with error:
STOP: 0X0000007B (0xFFFFFADFC8E323C0, 0xFFFFFFFFC0000034, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000)

I tried the HP OEM CD and a regular MS CD with the same result.

I tried on both servers.

I disabled SATA Controller 1 but can't disable Controller 2 since I need the internal DVD drive to boot.

I tried to integrate the latest E200/128 drivers with my install CD using nLite

So, what can I do now (returning the servers is NOT a good idea ;) ?

Hello David,
Disable both controllers; Use a USB CDROM;

Well, I don't have a USB CDROM.
That's why I said that I "need" Controller 2 :(

Is there ANY other way

Re: DL180G: BSOD on Windows 2003 x64 Installation

OK, I found a solution:
Since both SATA controller must be disabled and considering the fact that I don't have a USB CDROM, I used the ILO 100c virtual media.

So, I made an image of my HP CD, integrated (using nLite) the E200/128 driver and mounted it using the Virtual Media option of the remote KVM in the ILO 100c interface.

And voila it worked, I installed Windows Server 2003 R2 x64 on my DL180 G5.

It was slower than a regular CD but it worked fine.

Anyway, thanks James for your support.

Just a note for HP: Am I the only one to find this ridiculous, I lost a half day just to start the installation of a HP branded Windows on a HP branded server. Also, how someone without ILO and a USB CDROM will do ?

We have the same problem and
the problem has not been solved YET!!!

Support said HP's still searching.

We now install the OS via iLO, controller turned off.......
