Two ILO apps won't install from the smartstart CD.
In device manager, in the other category a device "SM BUS" is listed but is not installed properly.
Any input on what this is? I think this may be the ILO NIC card that is built into the system. Smartstart can't install its ILO apps because it doesn't see the ILO NIC. The SM BUS device doesn't have an INF associated with it so drivers cannot install for it.
Suggestions?

Re: DL180G5 Server 2008/64 Other Device named SM Bus
1. so you installed your DL180 g5 using smartstart 8.0 ?????
2. "Two ILO apps won't install from the smartstart CD"
which ones what do you mean?
I think the ilo driver you need is this one
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&swItem=MTX-62b8c41e445b46e6a030c10f9a&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN
the one included in Proliant support pack is for ilo1 and ilo2 which is not the same for 100 series server?
3. for the unknown device
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?ProductID=2917&DwnldID=14839тМй=eng
try that and let us know

Re: DL180G5 Server 2008/64 Other Device named SM Bus
The suggestion for the Intel Chipset Device Software 8.6.0.1007 installed a slew of drivers (presuming updates for various intel chipsets) and one for the SM Bus.
This fixed this problem thanks.
On the Smartstart 8... It will not boot into an assisted setup, but will run once the win server x64 is fully setup.
Now the ILO issue.... let me get the specifics on what the failures are-- essentially a number of ILO drivers are not found so the insight components will not install.

Re: DL180G5 Server 2008/64 Other Device named SM Bus
It would appear that the HP LO100c integrated controller in the DL180G5 does not have drivers available for MS Server 2008 x64. Therefore the Smartstart installation of the Insight management and ILO mgmt applications fails.
I believe that the Insight Manager partially installed and causes an WMI failure with a WBEM application. Microsoft's WMI inspector reveals that the HP app is causing a failure, and this seems to be from the lack of LO100c drivers.
Anyone aware of where/when we can find Server 2008 drivers for the HP LO100c ILO controller?
Thanks for the help Karlo-- much appreciated!

Re: DL180G5 Server 2008/64 Other Device named SM Bus
try this :
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=3577708&prodNameId=3577715&swEnvOID=4022&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=MTX-b8943f6c78904e42a93d8e6848
there is no other system management driver, even for 2003...

Re: DL180G5 Server 2008/64 Other Device named SM Bus
that was W2008 x64

all that means you are trying to installing Proliant support pack(PSP) in your server right?
would you mind to upload a screen for that error? because error can be that and can not? do you have unknown devices yet that could mean you are missing lo100c if not maybe it another error
oh by the way smartstart as you say is the PSP and to let you know I just check drivers included and does not include lo100c...
so it is an unknown device yet? or you are assuming that? specific error?

Re: DL180G5 Server 2008/64 Other Device named SM Bus
if you are really missing that lo100c
there is no driver for W2008 yet so you can try W2003 x64 bits previous I linked was for 32bits
