A drive failure notification has been received for the SAS physical drive located in bay 9. This drive can be found in box 1 which is connected to port 1I of the array controller P212 located in server slot 1. The failure reason received from the HP Smart Array firmware is: REMOVED_IN_HOT_PLUG.

And in 4-5 seconds there is a following message:

A SAS physical drive located in bay 9 was inserted. The drive can be found in box 1 which is attached to port 1I of array controller P212 located in server slot 1.

Re: DL180G6 problem with RAID

Sounds like a bad connection to me, have you tried removing the drive in bay 9 and refitting it?

If that doesn't help either the drive is malfunctioning or has a bad connector, or the backplane has a bad connector.

Yet did not try. I will try to swap disks in bay 9 and drive bay 10, if in drive bay 10 situation that repeats quits that the disk is faulty, truly?

Has swapped disks 9 and 10, the same result, the message for drive bay 9. Arises about 1 time a day. What it is possible to make with it? It is faulty drive bay 9?

Re: DL180G6 problem with RAID

Then it sounds like you have a bad backplane. You could try re-fitting the cabling that goes from the backplane to the controller, but I doubt that will help. You should contact HP support and swap the backplane.

Re: DL180G6 problem with RAID

Can you clarify if your system has a 12 LFF (3.5" drives) backplane or a 25 SFF (2.5" drives) backplane?

Re: DL180G6 problem with RAID

Have you initiated a service event with HP Services to have the backplane swapped out? We think that is the logical next step.

If that does not resolve it, we will need to investigate more closely and understand more details of your configuration. This failure is not anything we have observed during testing of our storage firmwares and functionality.

Re: DL180G6 problem with RAID

The server is not present possibility simply to disable and give to service centre HP, its operating mode 24*7. Think we will simply refuse usage drive bay â 9. I will rearrange it in the following free slot. Complicates still that that the given forum is not intended for the Russian consumers. Therefore if to access that only in the authorised service centre, and we with replacement backplane can have complexities, replacement or finding-out of a cause of a failure drive bay â 9 can last very long. As a fault floating.
