DL185 G5 - Support for 10 x 300Gb Disks
Hi all wonder if you can help here
I have a DL185 G5 but when i have 10 x 300Gb disks installed it only recognises 8 and the 2x 72Gb disks for the OS.
is this a limitation of the server, disk controller?
it says in the quick specs only 8 are supported on the 300Gb disks so i am wondering if this is a limitation or is there a work around for this short fall?
thanks

Re: DL185 G5 - Support for 10 x 300Gb Disks
Hi I am not sure it is the bay that is failing because in the quick specs it says that the DL185 only supports up to 8 x 300Gb disks but i suppose i am wondering if this is a controller limitation or something.
i dont think this is a problem with unrecognised drives or an error i think it is a limitation of the server but it does not say this in the quick specs.
it does however say that it ony supports up to 8x300Gb SAS drives and i was just wondering if someone else has experienced this.
thanks King

Re: DL185 G5 - Support for 10 x 300Gb Disks
so I think your server will work OK with P400 for 12 HDDs maybe it's a bay issue
