Hi I am trying to setup a DL320 G3 server with Windows Srv 2003. I am trying to mirror
2 SATA disks using the embedded STA RAID Controller. When I use ACU on SmartStart 7.4
it says :
ACU did not detect any supported controllers in your system.
I have enabled it in BIOS, and MS Device Mgr sees it, but I cant setup the mirror.
Can anyone help
thanks
paul.

Solution
Personally never done, but it might gave you some ideas
NOTE: The SmartStart assisted installation is available only when a PCI-based SCSI controller is installed. This feature is not available when configuring drives with the embedded SATA controller....
NOTE: For SATA RAID configuration, a driver diskette must be created....

.... Or you can create an array from operating system. See the HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller Managers for Windows.
NOTE: Enable the SATA SW RAID option under the Advanced Options
menu to enable RAID capability for the server.

Re: DL320 Embedded SATA RAID, Windows Srv 2003
Hi KOV
Thanks for the reply. I managed to solve my problem before seeing your post. Hope this helps anyone else who follows on. Some of these steps may not be mandatory, but this is what I did.
NB. Ignore SmartStart CD at this point as it is useless
1. Enable SATA RAID in BIOS Advance settings.
2. Install Windows server 2003 on 1st disk
3. Reboot & enter RAID setup
4. Create & Build Array
5. Boot server.
6. Install 2003 Service Pack and run Windows update.
7. Insert SmartStart CD and install all HP patches / fixes.
8. Reboot
9. Use SmartStart CD (7.4) as a coaster to keep coffee rings off your desk ;)
Thanks again for your response KOV
regards
paul.
