Is anyone using a Smart Array 6402 oder Smart Array 641 in Proliant DL320 G2 (ATA Model) ? I would like to use this combination to attach a MSA 20 to the server.
Compatbility table on http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/proliantstorage/arraycontrollers/index.html says that Smart Array 6402 and Smart Array 641 are only supported in SCSI-Models - which I can't understand. It's the same PCI slot and I'm willing to boot from my local ATA-Drives. Maybee this footnote is just taking care o beeing able to connect the local drives to the controller.

Hiya,
'Not supported' means 'not tested', which does not essentially equals 'will not definitely work'.
You have another problem here though: the MSA20 does not support hooking it to the DL320 (any generation).
As the MSA20 is far from being trouble free product, I would suggest not using it in an unsupported config - you will be left alone in the forest in a case of ANY trouble!
Rgds.
