DL320 G2 - Help for a newbie

Hi, Just recently took delivery of a used but tested Dl320 G2 (P4 3.06GHz) As I am a newbie, I would like to know what I need to do to get Windows 2003 (enterprise) onto the server. The server has 2 72Gb hdds but have been completly wiped.

I tried to use smartstart 8.00 but it wouldn't allow me to continue to deploy within the program. I tried to install the os directly, but when rebooted it didn't see the boot HDD so didn't start.

I was wondering if (a) I need to use an earlier version of smartstart or (b) need to use something else...

...please help!!!

hi

if the controller in your server is

Integrated Dual Channel Ultra ATA/100 Adapter with Integrated ATA RAID 0, 1

you can not use SmartStart CD that CD only support smart array controllers

and about the error you get when using only windows it is that Windows does not have the correct driver to identify your controller so if controller is not detected HDD won't be detected either

so you need to use a floppy an USB one or normal one and extract the driver for your controller and install windows 2000 using F6 option to load 3 party drivers (when windows is loading) or use nlite way much easier

nlite

nLite is a tool for pre-installation Windows configuration and component removal at your choice. Optional bootable image ready for burning on media or testing in virtual machines.

driver in case is the one I mention above
