DL320-G3

One boot in BIOS I get;

Integrated Ultra ATA 100 IDE Raid Controller
Scanning for Primary Device0 ...

hangs there..

bad drive? no red lights anywhere...

Try Clearing the NVRAM, & reseat HDDs.

How do you clear NVRAM? I reseated the HDD, removed, unplugged, re-connected, same issue.

Hi,

Like Sujith said, clearing NVRAM can help. You can check on page 58,59 how to clear the NVRAM:

Change position 6 on the maintainance switch to on and start the server.

If this don't help check if boot device order is set to c:.
It can be bad cable/backplane/HDD.
You can run offline diagnostics to see if there are any errors with backplane/HDD.
Else if you have RAID 1 you can try replacing the HDD with good one if you have such.

Sorry For the Delay, PAC Answered it!(thnkx PAC)

Also Once the Switch is set to ON its condidered as INVALID ROM SETTINGS;

hence You need to shutdown & return the switch to its original position; only then the NVRAM is cleared.

Could u tell me the drive part no and try to disable and enable ide controller in bios reseat drives backplane and clear nvram try the pdf from follow link :
