DL320 G4 USB cdrom

I just recieved a new DL320 without the CDROM drive as we planned on using a USB cdrom for the install. The DL refuses to boot from the cd. All USB functions are enabled and the first boot device is the cdrom. Any ideas what I am missing? I have tried both a Liteon and a Toshiba USB cdrom.

BTW if I'm not wrong some server has front and back USB ports and only some of the are bootable
also would it boot from floppy drive if you have one or USB drive key ?

Re: DL320 G4 USB cdrom

System rom is up to date. Dated 2/08/06.
Tried both front, internal and rear usb ports. also tried to disable usb 2.0 and run in legacy usb mode. no luck.

Re: DL320 G4 USB cdrom

Are you sure you should set the CD as the first boot device? Isn't there another option available, something like 'External USB device'?

Rgds.

Re: DL320 G4 USB cdrom

Have you tried another usb cd rom? Atleast with usb floppy drives different vendors' drives work very differently on different server hardware.

Re: DL320 G4 USB cdrom

The only option is "cdrom" as the 1st boot device. I have tried two different usb cdroms. I am going to try a usb floppy and a usb key to see if they work different.
