DL320 G5 SATA SAS combination !
Hi everybody
I just got DL320 G5 and install ESXi which it work fine , the server came with 2x sas 146gb, can I replace one of these two disks I have with one sata with high capacity because it cost less if I buy just the caddy and an sata drive from any of the vendor like segate, WD, ...etc !
and do you think guys it will work the combination of sas and sata with smart array 200 and the integrated intel sata controller 82801GR !

ok let me see this
you have an RAID 1??? with SAS HDDs and want to add an SATA sinc e it is bigger if it is like that NO it won't work.
yo can use SAS and SATA HDDs in the same server but not mixing RAID levels

Re: DL320 G5 SATA SAS combination !
Hello,
mixing SATA and SAS drives in one server is supported. Mixing SATA and SAS in one array isn't supported. If you need more capacity, just plug some SATA disks into you DL320 and create a new array.
Best regards,
Patrick
