Hi everyone,
I'm attempting to upgrade the memory in a Cisco MCS-7825-H4 (rebranded DL320 G5p) from 2x1Gb to >= 4Gb. I ordered 3 Crucial kits matching their recommendation (CT2KIT25672AA80E) as I had a few devices in need of the same memory, but I was unable to get the memory to work in the DL320 in any combination. There are LEDs adjacent to the DIMM slots, and these were lit red with the new memory.
The specifications of the memory used:
DDR2 PC2-6400 • CL=5 • Unbuffered • ECC • DDR2-800 • 1.8V • 256Meg x 72 •
Quote from DL320 G5p specifications:
Supports up to 8 GB of PC2-6400 (800 MHz) Unbuffered DDR2 ECC SDRAM Memory
Any ideas before I send the memory back and order some other to try? The only major difference I see is CL=5 vs typical CL=6, but I've never seen a problem from better CL specs.
Solved! Go to Solution.

SolutionHi,
According to my experience with HP ProLiant Servers, they support or works better with HP Branded DIMM.
Also when I check the specs differences between CT2KIT25672AA80E and HP DIMM supported on this server, I dont see any details about CL5 or 1.8v from HP.
I guess the voltage or Case Latency is mis matching.
Good Luck.
Thank You!

I work for HPE.

Re: DL320 G5p Memory Upgrade
That's about all I could come up with too. Thanks for the info!
