Re: DL320-G5p RomPaq - failed with error message about invalid header - server no longer boots?
Hi , Following are the steps for Manual ROMPaq disaster recovery:
1. Create a ROMPaq diskette. http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/?sp4ts.oid=3579737&spf_p.tpst=swdMain&spf_p.prp_swdMain=wsrp-navigationalState%3Didx%253D1%257CswItem%253DMTX_bd2713506d43456c8fd477f7e0%257CswEnvOID%253D1005%257CitemLocale%253D%257CswLang%253D%257Cmode%253D4%257Caction%253DdriverDocument&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.v...
2. Power down the server
3. Insert the ROMPaq diskette. (refer the readme.txt from extracted files from download)
4. Set S1, S4, S5, and S6 of the system maintenance switch to On.
refer the page number 70 for System board components from Service and maintenance gudie http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.BINARYPORTLET/public/kb/docDisplay/resource.process/?spf_p.tpst=kbDocDisplay_ws_BI&spf_p.rid_kbDocDisplay=docDisplayResURL&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&spf_p.rst_kbDocDisplay=wsrp-resourceState%3DdocId%253Demr_na-c01271978-6%257CdocLocale%253Den_US&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken
5. Power up the server.
- If the diskette is valid, the server generates two short beeps to indicate that the server is in disaster recovery mode.
- If the diskette is invalid or not inserted, the server continues to beep.
6. Wait while the ROMPaq diskette flashes the system ROM image:
- If successful, the server generates two short beeps.
- If unsuccessful, the server generates a sequence of descending audible beeps. Repeat the disaster recovery process.
7. Power down the server.
8. Remove the ROMPaq diskette.
9. Set S1, S4, S5, and S6 of the system maintenance switch to Off.
10. Power up the server.
