DL320 G5p Win 2K8 R2 SmartStart 8.3 Reboots

Hi,

I am trying to install Windows Server 2008 R2 on an HP DL320 G5p using SmartStart 8.3. Everything went ok until Windows did its first restart. After that it continues to restart. I get the "Windows Error Recovery" page where I can choose "Safe Mode", "Last Known Good Config", "Start Windows Normally" (Default) etc... The default has a countdown hence the loop.

The server was running Linux.
SmartStart is on a USB key and R2 is in an ISO format. The USB key has been used multiple times.
It has RAID 1+0 160GB SATA disks. I used smart start to configure the RAID.

I did try running safe mode and it came up rebooted when it got as far as "Loaded: \Windows\system32\DRIVERS\disk.sys"

Could it be that this version of SmartStart doesn't have the correct Array drivers or the controller firmware needs upgrading?

Is there a way to see what Windows is failing on?

Any pointers or tips would be gratley received.

Many thanks

Woter.
