DL320 SCSI Controller

Has anyone gotten PCI SCSI adapters to work, other than the SmartArray controllers, in the DL320?
I'm trying to use a couple of LSI Logic 64-bit controller cards that I have on hand, but neither will allow the system to boot to either SCSI HDD, floppy, or CDROM. Because of spacing, I've removed the IDE daughter card. Without the SCSI controller, the system boots to floppy or CD fine.

Re: DL320 SCSI Controller

Hello James,
Usually third Party controllers have their own BIOS which needs to be disabled so that it does cause any conflicts with Compaq Servers. Please try disabling the BIOS of the SCSI controller by going in Advanced configuration options if there is one.

Re: DL320 SCSI Controller

Thanks Sunil,
I suspected that, but was unable to find anyway to do that. However, I contacted LSI Logic and was told to update the SCSI adapter BIOS. That worked.

thanks,

James,

I have an Adaptec 29160N working ok in a DL320 (ATA). I guess the 29160 will work also.

Re: DL320 SCSI Controller

Thanks Alex, that's good info to know. With the help of LSI Logic and some SCSI BIOS updates, I'm now running an LSI21040.
