DL320s / P400 - simple deployment question

OK, this should be a stupidly easy question for someone.... I'm interested in installing a big storage server (SATA/RAID6), so was looking to the 320s. 12/14 bay capacity is good, but it ships with a P400. Now, the P400 specs say that it can take up to 18 drives, yet there only appear to be 8 ports on it. No docs on the P400 (or others) or the 320s seem to address how you address disks > 8. So, what's the trick? The second PCIe slot doesn't seem like a good option (for 2nd RAID card), as it's only x1, and none of the Smart Array boards spec compatible with that. Any insight? Thanks!!

yes that's for sure P400 can handle up to 18 internal HDDs and the DL320s design lets P400 connect all those HDDs in the Dl320s not needing any other controller
