DL360 G1 - Won't POST and the CD-ROM light keeps flashing.
Hello all: I purchased a replacement DL360 motherboard and a HP CPU kit (866Mhz) for a dead DL360 system. The motherboard only accepts (from what I can tell) CPUs up to 866Mhz. I installed everything on the motherboard, checked the jumper settings (about 10 times), but for some reason the system won't POST. The cd-rom light keeps flashing as if it is stuck in a loop of some sort. When I put a P3 1Ghz HP CPU kit on the board (just to test), with the same settings, the system will POST, but will show an error stating I have installed an incompatible CPU.
For the life of me I can't figure out what is keeping the 866Mhz CPU from booting?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: DL360 G1 - Won't POST and the CD-ROM light keeps flashing.
Hi Dan,
Does your 866Mhz CPU have the same characteristics as the attached image?
This is the correct spare part for the DL360G1 (203524-001)
There are 3 different system boards for the DL360G1 as follows:-
Spare part 173837-001 (For 550,800,866 and 933Mhz CPU's)
Spare part 224928-001 (Specific to 1Ghz models only)
Spare part 239120-001 (For 1.13 and 1.266Ghz models).
If you still have the original system board check the white labels on it. It should say somewhere "Replace with Compaq Spare XXXXXX-001".
Depending on what system board you have, you will need the corresponding supported CPU. I suspect that you have purchased a newer 1Ghz or 1.13/1.26Ghz model system board, you just need to match CPU(s) to it or get the correct replacement for the 866Mhz model system board if you don't want to purchase more CPU's.
I have added all CPU part numbers and two of the motherboard images to the attachment.
I hope this helps
Brian

Re: DL360 G1 - Won't POST and the CD-ROM light keeps flashing.
Thanks for the reply Brian.
I just glanced at the attachment you sent with the part numbers and I noticed that the part number for the P3 866 which I purchased was different. The CPU I purchased shows 1.75 for the voltage, whereas the 866 Mhz CPU on your attachment shows a 1.65 voltage.
I may have a 1.65 voltage CPU laying around to test the server with shortly.
