DL360 G1 and Integrated SmartArray 5i or 6i

Hello, does anyone know if you can replace the integrated SmartArray controller in a DL360 G1 with an integrated SmartArray 5i or 6i from a later generation of DL server.

Hi Scott,

Sorry, it is not possible since the Smart Array controller is integrated/soldered into the system board (hence the "i" suffix)

You can upgrade to a PCI-based Smart Array controller, and data will be preserved (anyway, perform a backup before the procedure)

Sorry for my stupidity guys but are we saying that yes I could replace the ISA with an intergrated 5i or 6i

You can not replace the *Integrated* Smart Array with another one. You may swap the Battery Backed Cache Memory

Use exclusively a PCI based RAID Controller as Oleg pointed out
