Sorry, it is not possible since the Smart Array controller is integrated/soldered into the system board (hence the "i" suffix)
You can upgrade to a PCI-based Smart Array controller, and data will be preserved (anyway, perform a backup before the procedure)

You can not replace the *Integrated* Smart Array with another one. You may swap the Battery Backed Cache Memory
Use exclusively a PCI based RAID Controller as Oleg pointed out
